What is Base64?
A way to write any data using only 64 printable characters, so it can travel through systems built for text, such as email, JSON and data URIs.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Anyone can decode it. Never use it to hide passwords or secrets.
What is URL-safe Base64?
A variant that uses – and _ instead of + and / and drops the = padding, so the result can sit in a URL or file name. JWTs use it.
