What is the difference between encoding a value and a whole URL?
Encoding a value (encodeURIComponent) escapes every reserved character, including / ? & and =, which is what you want for one parameter. Encoding a whole URL (encodeURI) leaves those characters alone.
Should spaces be %20 or +?
In a URL path use %20. In form data and many query strings, + also means a space; tick the option when you need that.
