How to use it
Encode turns &, <, >, quotes and, if you choose, every non-ASCII character into entities. Decode turns any named or numeric entity back into its character.
Questions
Which characters must be escaped in HTML?
Always & and <. Escape > too, and ” or ‘ inside attribute values.
When should I encode non-ASCII characters?
Rarely. Pages served as UTF-8 can use characters such as ₹ or é directly. Encoding them helps only when the file or system cannot store UTF-8.
